Phemelo Kebinelang is a dynamic township-based content entrepreneur who has dedicated over two decades to youth and community development work. His career is marked by significant contributions to the empowerment of the youth and the betterment of communities through various developmental roles and initiatives.
With an impressive background in both volunteer and professional capacities, Phemelo has developed a deep well of experience, knowledge and expertise in the realms of youth empowerment and community upliftment. His understanding of these sectors is profound, stemming from his hands-on involvement and leadership in numerous impactful projects.
As a former Head of the Youth Unit for the City of Johannesburg Municipality in South Africa, Phemelo steered numerous initiatives focused on youth development. He was instrumental in the implementation of diverse learnership and internship programmes that engaged over 10 000 youth, demonstrating his commitment to creating opportunities that pave the way to employment and personal growth for the youth.
Phemelo is also an accomplished author. He penned the insightful book titled “How to Turn A Learnership into Permanent Employment,” which serves as a practical guide for the youth seeking to transition from temporary learning opportunities to stable careers.
He has developed an impact-based programme and would like to present it - "Youth Generating Income Through the Digital Economy". Youth Generating Income Through the Digital Economy is a transformative programme designed to empower South African youth in particular and the African continent youth in general, aiming to impact 3 000 000 or more by 2030. The initiative focuses on teaching the youth how to learn, create and earn income online using digital tools, platforms and AI resources. He is assisting the youth to shift the focus from online content consumption to accessing economic opportunities online. The programme enables youth to explore and access digital opportunities like remote jobs, short online courses, AI Tools and Insights, how to e-commerce, online writing, cybersecurity and digital entrepreneurship all aimed at improving their financial and economic situations.
In the digital space, Phemelo has made his mark as an Online Content Entrepreneur. He is the founder of two online newsletters “Be Intentional and Purposeful Today” and LinkedIn based, “Beyond 9 to 5: Online Income.”
His expertise extends to facilitating and implementing learnership programmes for youth volunteering at various important city services, including the EMS (Emergency Management Services), the JMPD (Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department) and Metrobus. These programmes were essential for providing valuable practical experience and training to the youth.
Phemelo forged strategic partnership with notable organizations such as the Rockefeller Foundation and the Mentec Foundation. As partners, they trained and hosted over 500 youth in SAP Software training programmes, equipping them with highly sought-after technical skills.
One of Phemelo's significant achievements is the establishment of 10 Youth Advisory and Skills Centres across the City of Johannesburg's 7 regions. These centres offered a range of services, from skills development, entrepreneurship, employment and computer training programmes to food gardening and after-school classes. They also hosted youth empowerment workshops, all aimed at fostering a supportive environment for the youth to thrive.
He has played a pivotal role in facilitating and implementing the National Youth Service skills development programme, which targeted more than 5 000 youth. They helped the youth acquire the skills necessary for successful integration into the workforce.
Phemelo has also coordinated and hosted international youth as part of the Young One World Conference in Johannesburg, featuring the late UN Secretary-General Mr. Kofi Annan as the keynote speaker. This event brought together over 2 000 youth from around the globe, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration.
I'm looking for a partner, investor and funder in implementing the " Youth Generating Income through the Digital Economy" programme. I'm currently at a scaling and growth stages of the programme. My financial projection is to generate R1 Billion by 2030.
